Papago is the language of the Desert People (T6hono ?0?odhami), a tribe of about 10,000 persons living in scattered villages in southern Arizona and adjacent Sonora, Mexico. The majority of Papagos live on four reservations in Arizona: Sells, San Xavier, Gila Bend, and Ak Chin. The last is under Pima Indian jurisdiction.
