As the world continues to evolve in unpredictable and formidable ways, infrastructure needs remain high. 🌏Asia alone will need USD1.7–1.8 trillion per year until 2030 to address its infrastructure requirements. In the nearly 10 years since our founding, AIIB has evolved from a fledgling institution to a driving force in global infrastructure finance, supporting over 350 projects across 40 economies. As we mark our first decade of operations milestone, AIIB Director General, Communications Jeffrey Hiday spoke to our investment operations leaders—Vice President Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Chief Investment Officer (CIO1) Kim-See Lim and Chief Investment Officer (CIO2) Konstantin Limitovskiy—about the Bank’s achievements to date and priorities for the next decade. Home to several developing economies, 🌎Latin America has a strong demand for critical infrastructure. However, the region faces significant infrastructure deficits due to a scarcity of capital. To promote climate change mitigation and enhance the region’s cross-border connectivity with Asia, AIIB has pledged USD75 million to the Patria Infrastructure Fund V as a limited partner (LP), along with an additional USD25 million for co-investment alongside the fund manager. This partnership with Patria Investments, one of the largest infrastructure investors in Latin America, supports efforts to stimulate private sector investment in greenfield projects by leveraging both public and private funds, as public funding alone is insufficient to bridge the region’s infrastructure funding gap. 🌿 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. Multilateral development banks (MDBs), positioned between public ambition and private capital, are uniquely placed to accelerate this transition and scale nature-positive investment. To do so, they should embed nature into their strategies, investment criteria, and decision-making frameworks, treating environmental value as a core part of their mandate rather than an add-on. The role of MDBs extends far beyond financing. They are key facilitators of Public-Private Partnerships for Nature (PPPNs), helping governments and investors share risks, navigate regulatory uncertainty, and resolve disputes. By strengthening procurement systems, improving regulatory clarity, and addressing land tenure challenges, MDBs create enabling conditions that allow nature-based investments to thrive. 📘 Read more about the role of MDBs in scaling nature finance: https://lnkd.in/gvFzR9i4

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) observes International Anti-Corruption Day by reflecting on the evolution of a modern, fully aligned integrity framework developed over AIIB’s ten years of operation and anchored in the Policy on Prohibited Practices, AIIB Complaints-resolution, Evaluation and Integrity Unit (CEIU) investigations, a two-tier sanctions system and the public Debarment List. Hosting CII2025 - Conference of International Investigators also reaffirmed AIIB’s alignment with international investigation standards and our commitment to strong prevention, detection and sanctions practices across our operations. 🤝 | AIIB and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) work closely to support sustainable infrastructure and climate-resilient development. In 2023, the two institutions formalized a partnership focused on key sectors, including energy, water, health, and transport. AFD’s concessional loans to governments complement AIIB’s debt financing in sovereign-backed projects. A milestone in this partnership was cohosting the 2025 Finance in Common (FiCS) Summit together with Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) in Cape Town, South Africa, underscoring a shared commitment to sustainable finance and development cooperation. #AIIBpartnerships ➡️ https://bit.ly/41s5Xvp

You can now watch and listen to Jin Liqun’s speech and Q&A at Asia House on our YouTube channel. The founding President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) came to the UK – the first G7 country to join AIIB – during his final official overseas visit as the bank’s head last week. Asia House was pleased to host Jin as he reflected on his role in AIIB’s development into an institution with more than US$66 billion in assets. After welcoming remarks from Dominic Barton (Asia House Chair) and Sir David Quarrey (Group Head of Public Affairs, HSBC), he explored the role of multilateralism in an age of fragmentation, what can be learned from the Bretton Woods system, why infrastructure will shape development outcomes this century, and much more.
