We’re thrilled to share first light from Pelican-6! 🛰️ 📸 We snapped this crisp, high-resolution image of Lhasa Gonggar International Airport in Tibet less than a week after Pelicans 5 & 6 launched. We’re consistently achieving first light captures days after launch thanks to the quality and efficiency of our Pelican production line. Stay tuned: we’re planning for more Pelican launches next year! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/gQRiwTAh

Artificial intelligence isn’t replacing human effort in science — it’s amplifying it. With generative AI, governments and organizations can rapidly analyze Planet’s satellite data to inform conservation policy and accelerate disaster response. Enter Project Guacamaya, a collaboration between Planet and Microsoft that uses satellite imagery and AI to protect Colombia’s forest biodiversity. With Planet’s near-daily imagery, researchers can detect deforestation earlier, identify species from camera traps and acoustic sensors, and respond faster to threats like illegal mining and logging. And the impact extends beyond Colombia — the project is expanding across the Amazon basin, reinforcing the future of environmental stewardship that Planet is working to build: one where technology and strong alliances enable us to understand and respond to changes with greater speed and enhanced precision.
