Searchlight Partner Ajit Pai was the keynote at this year’s TMT Finance USA conference where he shared his thoughts on the current state of play within digital infrastructure. As a foremost broadband investor, we remain committed to partnering with companies to expand access and services to customers across the US.
Grateful to TMT Finance for giving me an opportunity to share my thoughts on trends in connectivity at the TMT Finance USA 2025 conference yesterday! My keynote speech focused on opportunities and challenges in residential broadband; mobile spectrum auctions, secondary market transactions, and growing competition in the wireless industry; and important technological and regulatory developments in the space-based communications sector. Bottom line: there are excellent prospects ahead for investment and innovation across digital infrastructure in the United States.

Thank you to The Wharton School for inviting our Founding Partner Eric Zinterhofer to share his career and industry insight with their students!
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 $17𝐁 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩? Last week, our class had the privilege of learning from Eric Zinterhofer, Founding Partner of Searchlight Capital Partners. Eric’s career spans time at Apollo Global Management, Inc., several board leaderships including at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., and almost three decades of private equity investing. But what resonated most with students? His 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫. His insights on when 𝘯𝘰𝘵 to chase AUM. And the reminder that 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, and 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 often matter more than timing or technicals. Eric shared insights from decades in private equity, covering everything from launching a firm, to navigating market cycles, to the evolving nature of leadership in investing. He spoke candidly about growth, mentorship, and why sound judgment and trusted relationships are still the core of long-term success. Student takeaways captured the moment: "𝘌𝘳𝘪𝘤'𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯'𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺'𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴." Thank you, Eric, for bringing your experience and wisdom to our classroom, and for reminding us that thoughtful investing is as much about people as it is about capital. Our Founding Partner, Oliver Haarmann recently spoke with PE Hub's Irien Joseph about his outlook on dealmaking, emerging investment themes and key market risks. Oliver noted that Searchlight is seeing compelling opportunities in essential infrastructure-related services – a sector largely insulated from outsourcing or AI disruption. In contrast, many white-collar industries face greater risk from AI substitution, leaving them more exposed to valuation volatility. Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eYBySmUq

Our Founding Partner Erol Uzumeri recently spoke with FundFire’s Justin Mitchell about the growing interest among US based managers in exploring deals in Europe. In the conversation, Erol shared his view that given the region’s diversity and nuances that long-term commitment is required as an investor to be truly successful in this market. Searchlight was founded as a transatlantic firm with a strong European foothold on this premise. Our Founders recognized the region’s opportunities and the importance of on-the-ground expertise and we remain committed to partnering with companies across Europe as they drive innovation and growth within their industries.
