Leaving a toxic job isn’t a loss. It’s a win. My client spent years feeling trapped.  She thought leaving was impossible. Two months after we updated her resume and LinkedIn, she walked out.  And into a job where she’s respected, heard, and growing. Why leaving matters: ·       You choose yourself. ·       You protect your mental health. ·       You open doors to better opportunities. Steps to make it real: 1.     Credit yourself. Walking away takes courage. 2.     Recharge. Toxic workplaces drain you. Fill yourself back up. 3.     Plan your next chapter. What energizes you? What role fits? 4.     Seek support. Find people who lift you up. 5.     Take action. Resume, LinkedIn, reach out, learn (momentum builds!!). Leaving toxicity isn’t selfish. It’s self-respect. It’s courage. It’s growth. 💪💜 ♻️ Share if you Agree! ➕ Follow me (Mary Southern) for more. 📍 Job searching? Your skills might get you noticed, but this one thing will get you hired. Most job seekers think landing a role is all about: A perfect resume, LinkedIn profile, or technical expertise. (They're not wrong!!!) But here’s what I've witnessed: The people who get remembered (and hired) aren’t just skilled. They’re intentional, genuine, and kind in how they show up. Think about it: When someone treats you with respect, engages thoughtfully, or acknowledges your experience, you feel: Seen. Valued. Confident. This is what hiring managers notice, guys!! And here’s how you can show it in your job search: • Respond promptly and thoughtfully • Engage authentically on LinkedIn • Celebrate others’ wins and contributions • Share knowledge and insights freely • Include and uplift voices that often get overlooked Kindness isn’t weakness…it’s a career multiplier. It strengthens your network, creates opportunities, and makes you unforgettable. Your skills got you here. Your presence and authenticity will get you hired. P.S. How do you show kindness in your job search or professional interactions? ♻️ Share this to motivate your network. 💪 ➕ Follow me (Mary Southern) for more. Your salary is shaped long before you sign the offer. It starts with the words you use when you talk about your value. I’ve helped over 4K clients rewrite their resumes, optimize their LinkedIn profiles, and land interviews at major companies. Here's the biggest pattern I see: People don’t get paid less because they’re underqualified. They get paid less because they communicate like they’re underqualified. One small phrase can quietly lower your worth. Not just now, but for years. You can have a brilliant background. A strong track record. And the perfect resume… …but if your wording signals “I’ll take whatever I can get,” employers will believe you. Here are a few examples of the phrases that sabotage people without them even realizing it: ❌ “Whatever works for you.” ❌ “I can be flexible on pay.” ❌ “I’m sure we can figure something out.” These don’t sound humble. They sound uncertain. And uncertainty always gets discounted. Instead, speak with clarity—calm, confident clarity: ✅ “I’d love to make sure the compensation aligns with the value I bring.” ✅ “Here’s the market range I’m seeing for roles at this level.” ✅ “I’m excited about this position and want to find a package that works well for both of us.” The difference is subtle… but subtle is where negotiations are won. You’re not being pushy. You’re being professional. You’re not asking for too much. You’re stepping into the worth you’ve earned. Your language can either shrink your earning potential— or protect it for the rest of your career. ♻️ If this resonates, resharing might help someone avoid a costly mistake. ➕ Follow me (Mary Southern) for more. Your expertise is priceless. But only if the right people can actually find you. Here’s the problem most job seekers face: You’ve spent years building skills, solving problems, and delivering results. But when it comes to your next opportunity. Nobody sees your full story. No visibility. No clarity. No way to show why you’re the perfect fit. So what happens? You send resumes into a black hole. You apply to dozens of roles with little to no response. You watch others, sometimes less qualified, land the jobs you want. It’s not your fault. You were taught to do the work, not to market yourself or tell your story. That’s why I’ve helped 4,000+ clients revamp resumes, optimize LinkedIn profiles, and craft stories that get them noticed: Not with fluff. Not with exaggeration. Just honestly, strategically, and effectively. Because when your story is clear and your value undeniable: Recruiters reach out. Interviews multiply. And you stop chasing jobs...you start choosing the roles you want. Your experience. Your expertise. Your next career move. It’s worth more than it’s being seen for today. ♻️ Share if you agree! ➕ Follow me (Mary Southern) for more. Job searching? Some doors really are closed. But most of the ones we stare at… just need a little more courage than we thought we had. We forget that when we feel stuck. When nothing seems to move. When silence starts to feel like a verdict on our worth. But the truth? Most barriers aren’t dead ends. They’re pauses. Lessons. Redirections designed to stretch us into who we’re becoming. Momentum doesn’t wait for perfect timing. It begins the second you take the next brave step— even when the results haven’t shown up yet. And sometimes, that “push” isn’t big or loud. It looks like: ↦ Trying one more time with a clearer mind ↦ Asking again without apologizing ↦ Following up even when your confidence shakes ↦ Knocking on a door you once thought was above you ↦ Finding the person who actually has the authority to say yes ↦ Moving forward before you feel fully ready Because the path doesn’t open for the passive. It opens for the persistent— the ones who keep moving even in the quiet. Which reminder hit home for you today? ♻️ Repost to encourage the person who’s standing in front of their next door, waiting for a sign. ➕ Follow me (Mary Southern) for more. I battled negative self-talk for years (and still do sometimes). I know what it’s like to go through life feeling like your own worst enemy. Questioning yourself. Doubting your worth. Wondering if you’ll ever be enough. That’s why I love simple reframes like this. They’re small, almost invisible shifts in thought. But over months and years, they rewrite the way you speak to yourself. The way you show up in your career. Even the opportunities that come your way. Tiny course corrections. Massive transformations. Because the way you treat yourself sets the tone for everything else in your life. 🔁 Share if you agree! Stop pouring yourself into a job that doesn’t see your value. If you’re constantly: Staying late Going the extra mile Delivering results …but still feeling invisible, it’s not you. It’s them. You’re not unmotivated. You’re undervalued. A company that truly respects you will: 💪 Celebrate your wins, not just demand more. 💪Hear you, and act when you speak up. 💪 Honor your boundaries and your life outside work. 💪 Grow talent from within instead of always looking elsewhere. 💪 Invest in your growth with real opportunities. 💪 Make staying feel like a choice, not a trap. 💪 Pay you fairly for your impact, not what’s convenient. Loyalty is earned, not one-sided. If they won’t meet you halfway, step back without guilt. Protect your energy. Recognize your worth. The right place won’t make you question it. It will show you every day. If you’re feeling stuck or overlooked, this is your reminder: You deserve better. ♻️ Found this helpful? The moment you stop protecting your corner and start building bridges, everything changes. I’ve watched it happen in every stage of a career. The people who go the farthest all share one trait: They use their advantages to lift others up, not just hold them back. Here’s what that looks like: 1/ Give without expectation Share opportunities you don’t need Connect people who would never meet otherwise Offer guidance or feedback that could change someone’s trajectory 2/ Teach what you’ve learned Reveal the lessons you struggled to figure out Mentor someone lost in the maze you’ve already navigated Put knowledge out into the world that makes the path clearer 3/ Celebrate more than yourself Cheer loudly for wins that aren’t yours Refer business or opportunities to the person best suited Collaborate instead of competing by default Scarcity keeps fences up. Leadership builds bridges. This week, try one small act: 💪 Introduce two people who should share a room 💪 Share a tool, contact, or insight you’ve been holding 💪 Spotlight someone else’s work publicly 💪 Help without expecting anything in return Across every career, every industry, every organization I’ve seen: Your influence grows when your bridges grow. Build them. Invite others in. When more rise, we all rise. 🔁 Share if you agree. ➕ Follow me (Mary Southern) for more! Resume Assassin Resume Sidekick

We spend years climbing the ladder. Then we spend more years wondering if we’re actually going anywhere. You hit your numbers. You close deals. You get the title. But if your heart feels empty along the way, something’s off. Here’s what I see with clients all the time: 👉 Chasing “success” without pausing leaves regrets piling up. 👉 Focusing only on the next role makes you miss the wins you already earned. 👉 Waiting until everything is perfect keeps you stuck. Real career growth isn’t about speed. It’s about clarity, reflection, and smart action. Acknowledge what you’ve accomplished Even small wins matter. Invest in the skills and connections that truly move your career forward. Stop comparing your journey to others. Your next step is yours alone. Take imperfect action. Waiting for 100% readiness often means waiting forever. Success isn’t just a new title or more zeros on your paycheck. It’s knowing your worth, being proud of your path, and moving forward with intention. And if your resume or LinkedIn profile isn’t reflecting the real you yet, let me know how I can help. 📌 Grab a free ATS-friendly resume template here: https://lnkd.in/ggGxWxMn 📌 Check out your resume's ATS score for free here: https://lnkd.in/gvZDFy7Y Follow me (Mary Southern) for more! Want to kill your career? Pretend you know it all. The people who keep growing don’t act like they have all the answers. They treat every resume update, every LinkedIn post, every job application like a chance to level up. They’re not afraid to be wrong. They WANT to be wrong. Every outdated bullet point Every weak headline Every missed chance to show impact… is a shortcut to growth. Here’s what that actually looks like: Ask better questions about your story → Replace “This looks fine” with “Does this truly showcase my impact?” → Study job descriptions like roadmaps → Treat recruiter feedback as free consulting Document wins in real time → Capture metrics the moment they happen → Save praise, screenshots, and results → Build a running playbook of impact you can plug directly into your resume Seek uncomfortable feedback on your personal brand → Ask: “What isn’t clear about my experience?” → Listen without defending → Update your resume or LinkedIn within 48 hours The people who rise fastest aren’t the smartest in the room. They’re the ones humble enough to keep rewriting their story. And bold enough to make it better. So ask yourself: When’s the last time you truly updated something important about your career? Your resume. Your LinkedIn. Your narrative. Because staying the same feels safe. But growth? Growth requires letting go of the version of you that existed yesterday. ♻️ Found this valuable?
