Vapi just crossed ONE MILLION calls in a single day. Wild. A couple years ago, when we first launched Vapi, we spent the day getting ready to “scale up”, just in case things exploded. We got maybe 10 calls? 😂 That day traction felt like pushing a boulder uphill. But here’s the funny thing, before PMF, growth feels impossible. But after that it feels obvious. 1M calls in a day is a reminder of how fast things move once the market decides you’re useful. We’re nowhere near done. But today, we looked back at that moment, the overconfident feeling, and laughed. Because back then, this milestone would’ve sounded ridiculous. And yet… here we are. Onward. 1M / day down. Today we're launching Evals. Voice agents change constantly. Prompts get tweaked, tools get added, models get swapped. Until now, there was no way to systematically test that critical behaviors still work. Evals let you define mock conversations and specify exactly what must happen on each turn: - Text the assistant should produce - Tools it should call - Arguments it should pass Run them locally while iterating. Run them in CI/CD before deploying. If something breaks, you catch it before production. UnityAI's team has already caught tool calls with extra parameters, tools not firing when expected, and prompt contradictions that would have been invisible in manual testing. Your backend has tests.
