- [Instructor] Static NAT on a Cisco device simply hides the internal IP of the source computer by replacing it with the public IP of the firewall. In this case, as traffic comes inbound from the internet. Dynamic NAT can also take advantage of a pool of IPs that are dynamically assigned. This will only work if you have multiple public IPs available. Static and dynamic NAT work in both directions. NAT stands for Network Address Translation and it's always used to hide the public from the private. Typically, we use Hide NAT to hide many internal IP addresses from the internet behind a single IP address on the firewall using Network Address Translation. You can also hide using a public pool of IP addresses as well, but that's not typically done as usual as just a single IP.
