- [Instructor] All successful smart digital transformations are data-driven to create value. The Internet of Things is the primary collector of that data, so the installation of a properly designed IoT network fabric spanning the mist, fog, and cloud is key. Let's see what all this means. In the context of this course, we will consider IoT to be networking, an extension of the internet into physical objects. It runs from the embedded system in the product, called the end point in networking, to the IoT cloud or IoT platform. IoT is the nervous system of all smart products and operations. From consumer smartwatches, smart appliances, and smart homes to business smart machines, smart factories, and smart cities, IoT tech is always present.
