- [Instructor] Older computers get slower over time. This perception could be because newer computers are faster, but it's most likely due to the accumulation of software, files, and your digital life on the computer over its lifespan. For a computer you've had more than five or six years, which is the typical lifespan of a desktop PC, consider doing a thorough review of software and data to remove items you no longer need. Two suggestions I have are to ensure that malware isn't installed on the computer and remove older programs you no longer need or use. Windows comes with the Windows Security app. Tap the Start button and type security and start the Windows Security app. If you see all green check marks, you're good. The Device security item isn't properly implemented on this computer, so I can ignore the warning. Choose Virus & threat protection. Scan options and select a Full scan.
