- [Instructor] When you rely upon a computer as your productivity tool, you accept the responsibility of security and maintenance. Yes, even when your organization has an IT department, but more often, when you work independently. Most of this responsibility is carried out automatically, but it helps to have a centralized resource where you can perform a quick check to confirm that everything is okay. This resource is the Control Panel's Security and Maintenance window. Press the Windows + R keyboard shortcut to bring up a Run dialogue box, and type msconfig. Okay, here's the System Configuration utility, and check out its Tools tab. This is the most useful list of utilities and locations in Windows where you can configure and check the system. What you're looking for is an item titled Security and Maintenance. Click to select it, and then this is important, click the Launch button. Do not click OK, click Launch.…
