- [Instructor] Earning the SSCP requires that you prove that you've been gainfully employed as an information security professional and that you have practical experience under your belt that's required to demonstrate expertise in the field. Candidates for the SSCP credential must have one-year of work experience where they're directly working as security professionals. Now, let's talk a out a few key pieces of this requirement. The experience does not need to be paid. You can count internships and volunteer positions. The experience can be part-time, but you'll only receive partial credit for part-time work. For example, if you work 20 hours a week, you'll need to hold the job for two years to meet the one-year experience requirement. The experience must be directly in the information security field.
