- [Instructor] Kanban is a work process management methodology based on Lean principles. Kanban can be summarized in two key concepts. One, visualize your work, and two, limit work in progress. Even though Kanban looks simple at first sight, it's a very powerful approach based on advanced queuing theory. Let's see an example of how a software development team applies Kanban. This is an example of a Kanban Board developed with Planview's AgilePlace product. The tool was formally known as LeanKit. You can use AgilePlace or another tool of your choice to build a Kanban Board. This Kanban Board was an example created with my free trial account. Your account and link will be different. Each vertical lane in the board represents status of an item. In our Kanban Board, we have four work items statuses, Planning and Coordination, Design, Develop, and Accept.
