AWS Lambda Durable Functions solves this by enabling workflows that can pause and resume seamlessly: • Write normal async/await code in Node.js, TypeScript, or Python • Functions automatically checkpoint state during waits and sleeps • Workflows can run for up to a year with automatic state management • Pay only for actual execution time, not wait time When your function needs to wait for a callback, sleep for hours or even up to a year, Lambda saves the current state and stops execution. When it's time to continue, everything resumes exactly where it left off with all variables and context intact.
