HOT OFF THE PRESS: Australia's National Robotics Strategy (launched today) presents a roadmap for integrating advanced robotics and automation technologies to boost national productivity and global competitiveness. This strategic vision is particularly impactful for WA and the mining sector, where advancements in autonomous and semi-autonomous systems are poised to significantly enhance operational safety and efficiency. At the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct, where I serve as the Safety Lead, I am privileged to get a front row seat for this transformative journey. The precinct is actively collaborating with innovators like Jevons Robotics with their ARTEV 6000 automated remote terrain vehicle and IMDEX, whose semi-autonomous Blast Dog system exemplifies the practical benefits of robotics in mining, improving safety and operational precision. With my roles leading safety at the precinct, educator in technology and responsible innovation at the Safety Innovation Academy and through my consulting at Pocketknife Group; I have a personal mission to drive the sustainable and responsible adoption of these technologies, ensuring they contribute positively to workplace safety and operational practices. Key aspects of the Australian Robotics Strategy focus on enhancing national capabilities in robotics, promoting wider adoption across industries, fostering responsible development with an emphasis on trust and inclusion, and enriching skills and diversity within the robotics workforce. For health and safety professionals, particularly those working in high-hazard industries, the strategic deployment of robotics and automation promises reduced exposure to hazardous work environments and a transformation in traditional safety practices - we can lead the way. Summary
Growth strategies for national robotics programs are coordinated plans launched by governments to rapidly expand the use of robotics and automation technologies across industries, aiming to strengthen productivity, innovation, and competitiveness on a country-wide scale. These strategies outline steps for integrating advanced robotics into workplaces, education, and supply chains to secure economic and technological leadership in a rapidly evolving global market.
- Invest in research: Support robotics innovation by increasing funding for research and development, which helps create new technologies and draws skilled talent into the field.
- Expand workforce training: Create programs that teach robotics skills and retrain workers, preparing them for new roles in programming, maintenance, and system integration as automation grows.
- Establish policy leadership: Form central offices or agencies dedicated to robotics, ensuring clear direction, coordination, and sustained support for national robotics initiatives.

🤖 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐔𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬? South Korea leads the world in robot density on factory floors, surpassing the U.S., China, Germany, and Japan. So, how can the U.S. reclaim its edge in automation? The A3 - Association for Advancing Automation has a bold plan: 🔹 Create a federal robotics office 🔹 Expand workforce training 🔹 Offer tax incentives 🔹 Strengthen domestic supply chains 🔹 Boost R&D funding 🔹 Modernize industry standards But there’s a roadblock: No central U.S. agency owns robotics policy. “You don’t know where to go,” said A3’s Jeff Burnstein. Other countries—especially China—have made robotics a national priority. And it’s paid off. We’ve seen this playbook work before: The CHIPS Act and Cold War-era CNC investments helped build entire industries. The same could happen for robotics—if the U.S. acts decisively. If we want to lead in the next industrial revolution, robots need a seat at the federal table. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e7scrhcf

A Bold Vision for UK Growth: Embracing Robotics & Automation in the New Industrial Strategy! Exciting news for the future of the UK economy! The new government's recently unveiled Industrial Strategy presents a truly forward-thinking roadmap, and its strong emphasis on the adoption of robotics and automation is particularly commendable. For too long, the UK has lagged behind global competitors in robot density and automation adoption. This new strategy directly addresses this challenge, recognising that these technologies are not just about efficiency, but are fundamental drivers of economic acceleration, innovation, and competitiveness. Here's why this focus on robotics and automation is a game-changer: Boosting Productivity: Automation is proven to significantly increase output per hour worked. By enabling our industries to do more with less, we can reverse productivity stagnation and enhance our global standing. Driving Innovation: Investment in robotics R&D, as outlined in the Advanced Manufacturing Sector Plan, will foster a vibrant ecosystem for cutting-edge technologies, attracting talent and investment. Creating High-Value Jobs: While some fear job displacement, history shows that automation creates new, higher-skilled roles in areas like programming, maintenance, and system integration. This strategy supports upskilling initiatives like the expansion of Made Smarter and new Robotics Adoption Hubs, preparing our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow. Enhancing Competitiveness: From advanced manufacturing to logistics and services, integrating robotics ensures our businesses can compete more effectively on the global stage, leading to increased exports and inward investment. Strengthening Supply Chains: Automation enables more efficient and resilient domestic production, reducing reliance on vulnerable global supply chains – a critical lesson from recent years. The commitments to expand programs like Made Smarter, establishing Robotics Adoption Hubs, and increase R&D funding for advanced manufacturing are pivotal steps. This strategy doesn't just talk about the future; it lays concrete foundations for a more productive, innovative, and prosperous UK. I'm optimistic about the positive ripple effects this strategy will have across various sectors, ensuring the UK remains at the forefront of technological advancement and economic growth. #IndustrialStrategy #UKEconomy #Robotics #Automation #Innovation #Growth #Manufacturing #DigitalTransformation #FutureOfWork
