Not how to “write a clever, long prompt.” Not “guess what GPT wants to hear.” But designing systems that load the right info at the right time. 🛠️ Prompt ≠ Context Most people confuse the two. Prompting is just a single step. Context engineering is the system. Prompt engineering helps you ask better questions. Context engineering helps the LLM actually answer them. That means: • Loading memory dynamically • Structuring tool feedback • Controlling for hallucination • Sequencing scratchpads + few-shots • Choosing what not to include Think of it like this: Prompt = input Context = pipeline Garbage pipeline = garbage output, no matter how smart your prompt sounds. This is why most agent demos fail outside a vacuum. It’s not the LLM. It’s the lack of context control. Here are a few way to use context engineering today: 1. Summarize long conversations into memory snippets. When building chat agents or tools with ongoing input, create a running summary every few turns. Feed that summary back into the context instead of the full thread. It keeps the model focused and cheap. 2. Inject user preferences dynamically.
