💡 Error Log #28: Resources Shape Your Creativity “What you consume shapes your creativity” - right? Not being intentional enough about what I consumed while working on creative projects. I’ve learned that inspiration is everywhere, but unless you’re deliberate, it’s easy to end up overwhelmed or worse, stuck with shallow ideas. 💡During the development of Cyberpunk, I was trying to deeply understand the behavioral differences between gangs, corporations, and nomads. At first, I approached it like a sponge: reading, watching, and listening to everything. But “everything” isn’t useful if you don’t approach it with intention. Without focus, I found myself lost in details that didn’t serve the narrative or lacked a cohesive perspective. Being intentional about what you consume isn’t just about avoiding distractions, it’s about crafting a framework. The right inputs can unlock the language, tone, and emotional core of your project. But it takes effort to filter through the noise and focus on resources that truly serve your creative goals. What worked for me setting animation direction: Study extremes to find clarity. To differentiate between gangs, corporations, and nomads, I immersed myself in all sorts of media: films, books, documentaries, music, even sociology essays and intentionally sought extreme contrasts. By doing so, I started to see patterns and develop distinct voices for each group. Create a lens, not just a list. I stopped consuming passively and instead used a lens: What does this teach me about hierarchy? Freedom? Power dynamics? This helped me translate abstract themes into specific visual and behavioral language. Balance broad exploration with focus. Early on, I cast a wide net to find inspiration. But once I had the direction, I narrowed down to only the resources that deepened my understanding of the project’s core themes. Let everything feed the story. Whether it was the architecture of a dystopian movie, the lyrics in a punk song, or the dynamics in a true-crime documentary, I kept asking, How does this relate to my characters? My world? My themes? The creative process thrives on inspiration, but the key is intentional inspiration. The inputs you choose define the outputs you create. Stay tuned for more ⚔️🐻

From Pablo Picasso to Nikola Tesla – what do they know that you don’t? As entrepreneurs, we often face the challenge of breaking through to the next level. The key? Experimentation. It's about identifying specific problems and addressing them with targeted solutions. But more importantly, maintaining a general curiosity and a disciplined approach to refining said ideas. The method? Explore and exploit. Exploration involves testing new ideas beyond your usual methods. Exploitation focuses on refining and maximising the potential of your most successful discoveries. 🔥 This balance can lead to a creative hot streak. Consider the careers of innovators like Nikola Tesla and Pablo Picasso. Nikola Tesla experimented with various electrical systems, including alternating current (AC), wireless energy transfer, and early prototypes of radio technology. This phase of exploration paved the way for his groundbreaking contributions to modern electricity. Pablo Picasso also went through extensive experimentation. Before developing his distinctive Cubist style, he explored Realism, Symbolism, and Surrealism. His willingness to experiment with different forms and techniques allowed him to revolutionise the art world with his unique vision. For myself, it's all about balance. Be willing to explore broadly, and then commit to a period of intense focus and refinement. As business owners, we need to embrace this mindset. Stay curious, experiment fearlessly, and refine your best ideas with discipline. This is how breakthroughs happen. ✊

What if the secret to unlocking your full potential lies not just in achieving goals, but in exploring the world around you? 🌍 In our fast-paced professional lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the race for achievements. I’ve been there, laser-focused on collecting wins and accolades. But over the past year, I’ve made a conscious choice to embrace my inner Explorer, and it’s transformed my perspective. Think about it: when we play games, we often lean into one of four personas—Dominator, Achiever, Connector, or Explorer. Each has its strengths, but the Explorer persona invites us to uncover new experiences, learn from them, and grow. It’s about curiosity, adventure, and the joy of discovery. While my Achiever side drives me to excel, my Explorer side encourages me to pause, breathe, and soak in the journey. Whether I’m traveling for a client or simply enjoying a weekend, I’ve learned that exploration fuels creativity and enhances productivity. It’s a reminder that life isn’t just about the finish line; it’s about the experiences we gather along the way. So, how can you activate your inner Explorer? Start small. Take a different route to work, try a new hobby, or engage in conversations with people outside your usual circle. Each step you take into the unknown can spark new ideas and insights that propel you forward. How do you balance your work with exploration?
