I'm trying to create an animation where this shape is being formed as if it's somehow being extruded out in a circle.

I'm trying to create a sort of circular array of planes and then bridge them with faces in real time via geometry nodes, I try creating a spline or NURBS curve and then create that forming animation with that, all sorts of things; and then eventually do a boolean on the geometry pictured with that other geometry. I can't really get where I want with it.

I don't really know how to do what I want with the curve, I don't understand geometry nodes enough to achieve what I want.

I'm sort of trying to do this thing but in 3D: https://youtu.be/qjqfhy_JHHk?t=12

A tube with square walls in Blender. Near it is a rectangular plane, and a round spline curve goes through the whole tube

It should read like a question, be descriptive but succinct, unique and identifying, summarizing the problem so anyone searching for similar issues is likely to find this. Remove anything superfluous, avoid vague words like "this", "help with", "issue", "like in image" "question about", instead describe what "it" is. Your title is the first thing visitors see, answers you get depend heavily on it. See What is the problem of asking “How do I do this?" $\endgroup$ Commented 13 hours ago

You can make a curve and animate a "Trim Curve" in geometry nodes

You can add a "Smooth by Angle" modifier after the geometry nodes.

$\begingroup$ You could use a Curve > Primitives > Quadrilateral instead of converting the grid to curve $\endgroup$ Commented 13 hours ago
  • $\begingroup$ Oh sick, that is incredible! Thank you so much. I'm such a stranger to geo nodes, if I decide I'm taking Blender more seriously I'm definitely delving deep into them $\endgroup$ Commented 4 hours ago
  • $\begingroup$ wait, what should be the geometry input and what should be the mesh input of the node tree? $\endgroup$ Commented 3 hours ago
  • $\begingroup$ @defgecd ,the input is a curve with the open circle shape, the rest is in the image. $\endgroup$ Commented 3 hours ago
