I have an Agilent E5061A Network Analyzer that powers on somewhat (fans turns on, lights on mobo and other parts are lit) but does not fully boot up.

After taking it apart and looking at obvious stuff, I came across the following section of the motherboard (RadiSys SC815E) with blown parts. See picture:

One of the components has a hole in it. Does anybody know what component is this? A Voltage Regulator? Google searching the markings did not lead to anywhere ("DG12AB / FDG12AB, etc..")...or maybe I am searching wrong?

In addition, those 3 capacitors seem to be bulging from their tops, with black goo leaking out as well. Those are 3300 uF, 6.3 V caps.

Any assistance much appreciated!

It's a mosfet:

If it's blown out it might be other parts of the circuit that caused it to fail so be warned that replacing it might not fix the circuit.

  • \$\begingroup\$ Thank you very much! It is indeed blown (see picture with the hole in it). The only other problem I could find on the board were the 3 capacitors right next to it that are leaking black goo from their tops. \$\endgroup\$ Commented May 14 at 11:54
  • \$\begingroup\$ That could cause an issue with ripple and a DC/DC converter circuit (which it looks like this fet and caps are a part of) \$\endgroup\$ Commented May 14 at 16:21
