Reason: Make extended-confirmed indefinitely. That page are WP:RUSUKR topic area. However, due of ongoing issues of the current conflict, possibly in the future. like the currently extended-confirmed protected page such as Toretsk. TentingZones1 (talk) 10:58, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. Only a small portion of this article is affected by the ECR mandated by RUSUKR. In cases like this, in the absense of active significant disruption ECR is enforced by manually reverting edits to the portions of the article covered by ECR by non XC-editors, not by applying ECP preemptively. - The Bushranger One ping only 09:08, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – reversion edit war by unregistered user to initially and now essentially version created by two sock puppets. This has been reported as possible further sock puppetry. Whatever some article protection after reversion seems appropriate until sock puppet investigation done. ChaseKiwi (talk) 11:37, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This is kind of complicated. A non extended-confirmed editor performed an undiscussed split of Malayalam, which resulted in this article. since Malayalam is indefinitely EC-protected, I think this should be, too. Or, should this split be reverted because it was undiscussed and the editor who did it isn't EC? Chess enjoyer (talk) 14:07, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Pls add reference to WSJ article on vast scale of Gaza Destruction, WSJ is traditionally pro war (editor was Max Boot), and it's significant that even they are admitting it https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/gaza-rubble-reconstruction-israel-war-85f12cfa Progress and Poverty (talk) 13:58, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

The WSJ article doesn't use the genocide label. It reports the facts on the ground. So, it is probably better suited for Gaza war#Scale of destruction and/or the main article Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip. You are welcome to post an edit request on the talk page of either article asking for one or more specific pieces of information from the source to be incorporated. If you do so, you should follow the WP:EDITXY guideline, and avoid personal opinion/analysis. I don't think it has been used so far according to this and this anyway, but there may already be discussions somewhere... Sean.hoyland (talk) 14:47, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

Hello, I'd like to request autopatrolled rights, seeing as I've made 32 mainspace articles, none of which are stubs (I do not rate my own created pages). Thus far, I've focused on creating pages related to music, most of which pertain to WP:Albums. Thanks, Fundgy (talk) 06:10, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Quick note about Rough Trade Records soundtracks. That was meant to be a category but I forgot to add "Category:" in front, so I requested its deletion myself. Fundgy (talk) 06:17, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Track record of creating acceptable articles. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 20:38, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I was recently recommended by Aszx5000 on my talk page to apply for Autopatrolled permission. I have made about 6,700 edits and authored 88 articles and counting, which I always aim to publish at C or B class quality. I believe I have a strong understanding of relevant policy which I'm always striving to improve, and am always open to feedback and correction. Cheers! Johnson524 07:19, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

I've noticed B33tle's profilic creation of species-related pages (over 500 in the past 2 weeks), particularly beetle related pages. All of these seem excellent, and I have no doubts B33tle will do well with this permission (while also reducing the load on new page reviewers). All their contributions have been in line with the recent village pump discussion regarding their mass edits (3+ reliable sources, limiting to ~100 per day, following up with discussions on talk page), further bolstering my confidence in them. I'd also encourage them to consider Auto Wiki Browser permissions, if it would benefit them. Signed, Guessitsavis (she/they) Talk 13:24, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Requests for AutoWikiBrowser access

Looking in the future, I see myself working in WP Taylor Swift (or generally WP pop music). A fair recent example was when I mass created drafts of songs in Taylor Swift's new album, in which they all followed the same structure and had similar categories. It was very annoying to have to work on all of them one-by-one, and I feel like AWB will help if I meet such an example again. HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 23:05, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I'd like to use the tool to update South Australia place articles to use new pushpin location maps specific to regions of that vast state. I have used AWB heavily on English Wiktionary, so I'm already familiar with the tool. This, that and the other (talk) 05:46, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

I am admin/sysop for Balinese wikipedia. Need to maintain it regularly with bots. Thanks. Angayubagia (talk) 07:13, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

I'd like to try this to help make some several typo corrections with less general tedium. (I've been doing several such corrections recently, particularly in relation to airline names that are frequently misspelled like Delta Air Lines, as you can see from my recent contributions.) Thanks for your consideration! Curlyquote (talk) 07:32, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
Requests for confirmation

Confirmed

Becoming a manually "confirmed" user on Wikipedia earlier than the standard, automated route offers immediate access to critical editing tools, providing a substantial advantage for dedicated contributors and those involved in structured editing projects.

The standard autoconfirmed status requires an editor to wait four days and make ten edits naturally over time. Requesting manual confirmation bypasses this waiting period entirely, accelerating an editor's ability to fully participate in the encyclopedia's collaborative environment.

The primary motivation for seeking this status earlier is to immediately gain the trust and functionality necessary to circumvent anti-vandalism measures designed for brand-new accounts. Confirmed editors can instantly begin editing semi-protected pages, which are often high-traffic or controversial articles that administrators lock down to prevent disruption. Furthermore, they are immediately empowered to create new articles directly in the main encyclopedia space without the bottleneck of submitting drafts through the Articles for Creation process.

Early confirmation also unlocks essential account maintenance tasks, such as moving or renaming pages to correct titles and uploading files (images, multimedia) to support articles. For those participating in group editing events like edit-a-thons, obtaining this status immediately is crucial, as it allows participants to focus purely on content creation rather than administrative hurdles. In essence, seeking early confirmation is a practical step for serious editors to immediately remove the software limitations imposed on new users, allowing them to contribute efficiently and without artificial delay. The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Became A Rouge One (talk) 06:06, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Manual confirmation of accounts on Wikipedia ahead of the standard automated route is almost never granted due to a combination of factors related to both practical concerns and the integrity of the platform.
One of the primary reasons is the risk of abuse. If manual confirmation were readily granted to users before they have demonstrated a certain level of activity, it could open the door for bad actors to gain early access to privileges that are meant to be earned over time. These privileges, such as the ability to edit semi-protected pages or move articles, are typically reserved for users who have shown a commitment to the platform, not just those who want to bypass safeguards. Wikipedia's policies prioritize the security and stability of the encyclopedia, which is why they require users to have at least four days of activity and ten edits, ensuring they are familiar with basic editing practices and community norms before gaining more advanced permissions.
Moreover, manual confirmation requires additional administrative oversight. Allowing manual requests for confirmation could result in an overwhelming workload for administrators, as they would need to review each request individually. This process, while possible, is resource-intensive and could lead to delays or inconsistencies, creating a bottleneck that undermines the efficiency of the entire community. The automated route, by contrast, ensures a more streamlined, impartial, and scalable process that minimizes human error and maximizes fairness.
Lastly, Wikipedia's system is designed to promote a gradual and inclusive pathway for users to become trusted contributors. The four-day waiting period and ten edits are in place to ensure that new users can familiarize themselves with the community’s standards, policies, and the collaborative nature of the platform before they gain higher-level privileges. This measured approach helps prevent premature or unchecked access to powerful editing tools that could disrupt the integrity of the site. It balances accessibility with the need for responsible stewardship of an open, crowd-sourced resource.
Therefore, while the desire to gain quicker access to editing privileges is understandable for active users, the Wikipedia community places significant value on a balanced, fair, and well-structured progression, and manual confirmations would disrupt that balance. I am a 65 year old student at the University of Kentucky. I unfortunately am also a procrastinator of epic proportions. For my ICT201 class I am supposed to make changes to and add 4 references to any article of my choice. I have researched the topic that I want to add to and have waited until the last minute to do the changes (it is due at midnight tonight).

I have read that I can make 10 edits and be moved up to the level to make changes to the semi-protected page but I have not researched, nor prepared edits to any other pages.

Please move my account to the next level so that I can edit the article and maintain my A in my class.

Hi, I'm a trial NPP and AFC reviewer and doing new page patrol requires moving some articles to draft for better improvements as they're not suitable in the main space, it will be more better if I can move articles without leaving redirects. This right would also be helpful for when I close RMs so that I don't need to request the move be performed at WP:RM/TR afterwards, as well as potentially helping out with moves there myself. Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

I am requesting to be a requested changes reviewer as I got understanding of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Vandalism, Wikipedia:Verifiability. While I may of had multiple articles made by me rejected, this was from a while ago that I don't bother working on when I was absolutely terrible of editing around like 3 months ago. Additionally, I would be happy to work doing reviewing changes and checking it at least every day. Additionally, I got 900+ edits, and joined around 6 months ago with loads of huge editing, notably my 61016 article I have made.

My request was declined, so I am requesting Pending changes reviewer again, with 600 total edits. Aikee Moral (talk) 05:00, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done per Toadspike on your talk. One day is not enough. Giraffer (talk) 15:30, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

I have a substantial track record in counter-vandalism work and believe this would help me in that mission. (I also have AfC, rollback, and temp user IP viewing rights, if that helps.) I am an active participant in the Guild of Copy Editors, Unsourced Articles, and other, area specific projects. I agree to use this right according to policy and as an active participant in a particularly contentious CTOP, I will also leave relevant changes within that CTOP to uninvolved editors unless it's particularly egregious vandalism. Thank you in advance! Smallangryplanet (talk) 18:19, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Done. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:13, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
I have done a number of reverts as a result of vandalism or violations of policy. I have read the policies at Wikipedia:Reviewing pending changes#Criteria to receive this permission. I have also participated in the Afd and speedy deletions which have been successful in the past. I have written a few articles and rewritten a few as you can see on my userpage. My goal is to apply the polices in a fair and balanced way. I am committed to continuing to making Wikipedia a place we can all be proud of. Docmoates (talk) 09:36, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
Requests for rollback

Rollback

I would like to request rollback to remove vandalism more efficiently. I have over 900 edits most of which are from RC patrol. I have no history of edit warring, and always warn users if they vandalise pages. I would like rollback rights to use AntiVandal. Thanks. SuperCode111 (talk) 00:46, 4 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done. Sorry, but your last request was denied because you were very new to recent changes patrolling and this request was made only just over two weeks later. You just don't have a long enough track record yet. I would suggest applying again when you have at least a couple of months of experience. Some experience at AIV and RFPP and other backroom areas would stand you in good stead. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:56, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
My last request was denied because I didn’t meet the criteria of “at least a month patrolling RC”, but I started patrolling on the 5th of November, and when I made this request I had been patrolling for about a month. SuperCode111 (talk) 22:43, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Requests for temporary account IP viewer

Temporary account IP viewer

going through page histories, i often have to revert all the edits of a user. taiv would help to find the problematic edits of temporary accounts. ltbdl (activate) 05:33, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

While I'm generally pretty liberal in terms of giving TAIV, [4] gives me a bit of a pause especially because the unblock was barely a month ago. I'll let other folks comment, but I'm leaning no purely based on the recency of the block (especially since one of the benefits of TAIV would be to hide LOUTSOCKing better).
